Hey fellow crab eaters,

Has anyone gone crabbing this season?

Where and any luck?

I was thinking about Pacifica Pier.
Free, no license required, OK to use snares or traps.

Any hot crabbing spots?

Look up 40Grit. You got crab to trap. Boats always help for sure but pier crabbing can be very effective for sure.

Good luck. Perseverance and Determination will always be the task at hand but you can find them.

I wouldn't recommend Pacifica Pier because the part on the end is closed because of it falling into the ocean.

This is the part of the pier that a large group who thought they owned the pier would chase off anybody there wasn't part of the group. Now that they're home turf is gone (and they're not), I'm sure that they will take up and claim at least a quarter of the pier that is open. It's crowded enough as it is especially on the weekends that I won't be going until they repair the pier.

If you're looking for a free no license place to crab, you should try one of the three pairs in Santa Cruz or the pier or jetty at Princeton/Half Moon Bay. Keep in mind that you can only fish the ocean side of the jetty without a license.

Happy crabbing...
Go out and get some!

Hey Doug, I’m no help as all my experience and knowledge is for offshore crabbing outside the Golden Gate. Good luck to you and enjoy your bounty when you get ‘em!!
