I’ve always enjoyed being near the water fishing or out in a boat fishing. I’ve caught two limits of Crappie wulffy. That’s 25 Crappie per limit. After the second time, as I was cleaning them, I realized I didn’t need to limit out out. All I needed was enough to have a nice fish fry and I’d release anything past ten fish. I guess I was so used to tournament fishing where limiting out with the biggest and best is normal. Besides, I have more time to look at my surroundings and take it all in. I’m getting old now and I’m glad I’m not too late to smell the roses 🌹.

Never too late to smell the roses, watch the birds, breathe the fresh air Hack. Fishing is restorative to me whether I catch or not. The limits here are pretty small except for yellow perch, northern pike and for the last couple years on smallmouth bass. Those are unlimited but like you, a meal or two is enuff.

Thanks Graywulff. Our saltwater limits are very small for Reds and Trout. They’ve cut back on LM too. I figured the next time I went I’d catch a few of them again. I used to be in a Crappie club, and there was one guy that always limited out in our tournament. I’ve always wondered what he did with all of those filets. It was just him and his wife.

Well, since you ask. NO. I don't keep dink bass anyway, but I will keep one in the 10-12" range if he is fat and healthy. Do you really think I would be stupid enough to post illegal activity online to a bunch of nosy well wishers. We have so many bass here you can keep 10 black or spotted bass per day, 2 walleye, 5 sauger, 15 yellow bass, 15 white bass, 15 stiped or hybrids, 30 sacalait, 50 bream, no limit on yellow perch, or catfish. THAT IS PER DAY. There are size limits on a few of the state lakes. They told us to quit using dynamite and telephones in the 30's. Any more rules you want to know about?

I know a few people like that, they will take their limit everyday and I am thinking, first I can't eat that much fish and second I don't want to clean that many.

A few hours out on the water is a few hours in the arms of nature. Whether or not I come home with fish, I come home with my emotional batteries fully charged.

Exactly ranger. That second 25 Crappie taught me a lesson, plus I just don’t need that many fish.

For me too Grizz. The big uns are just a bonus!!🎣👍

My feelings exactly Wulffy. Lately, our dry fall weather with temps in the mid to upper 70s has been great. Just being outside in this weather watching the blue heron and bass break the top water works for me. I still hope for the "big one" but can enjoy the time without one.

BM... pay attention, school is in session. Sometimes people ask questions because they do not know the answer. Rather than make assumptions or develop opinions based on ignorance, questions help provide knowledge giving one the ability to speak intelligently. And yes BM, I have lived long enough to not be a bit surprised by anyone posting a narrative about an illegal activity. Just as I'm not surprised by anyone responding to my questions with things I never said or zero patience and understanding. For the record, I defend everyone's right to harvest fish legally caught, within the legal limit.

I would share an observation and ask a question. Since joining the Stage my fishing has changed considerably in that I don’t just fish for trout anymore. Many of you are bass fishermen/women. I have noticed in your stories and pictures that there seems to be a feeling of sadness if bigger fish aren’t caught. So my question, Does a day on the water of catching “dinks” detract from the fishing experience??

A day on the water is the experience in my view.
