Good morning, Badboy, and welcome to the Forum. I'm not sure what you said, whatever, it works. It sounded like you were fishing somewhere.

Translation: he was fishing using menhaden for bait. Looking to catch stripers or bluefish on Island Beach State Park on NJ.

Oh, thanks Fly. I haven't been out East in a while. I had no idea what he was saying.

Parking is an issue with these ankles that are not 100% yet. Have only fished the INlet once last summer and know you can park on the North side right by where you fish. I'll check out the area tho. Thanks.

I’m going there this evening. There are fluke, sundials, shad and striped bass in the inlet now. You should catch something. Good luck.

Well I was on the north side of the Inlet before high tide, during and after. NO ONE was catching anything. Saw guys throwing nets on the South side so maybe they had a bit more happening over there. On top of that I lost my brand new Ava jig on first toss and two more jigs within the hour. Those rocks are a pain and the all the fishing boats fighting to see who can get in fastest throwing 4ft wake up against the wall. Did not have a good time.
Weather was gorgeous, that was it.

I caught a fluke on an Ava and a hickory shad on a teaser in the inlet on the jetty on the outgoing tide. I saw lots of fluke, shad and sundials caught on the ocean side of the jetty. When I fish in the inlet I cast up current, let my lure hit bottom, jig in half way in, then reel fast so that I don’t get stuck in the rocks. I only lost one Ava in the rocks this year in 32 trips. I expect to catch my limit of shad in the ocean tomorrow evening.

I had a buggy tag every year except one from 1970 through 2012. Never returned there since Hurricane Sandy. In the old days many buggy guys would give the walkons a free ride to and from the inlet. I think it’s a 2 mile walk.
