Howdy y’all had anyone fished lake mcswain in the last few days? how’s you do? What did you see? Was there over a month ago lots of fish up the river arm not many birds working the water🤷♂️ Thanks in advance “FISH ON”

Went last week and got skunk from the bank. Only seen one fish caught and no birds working the water. Going to go back one day this coming week.

Went this morning caught one fish rainbow trout looks like a holdover stocked fish about 15 inches my girl lost one fish at side of kayak it popped its head out of the water and spit the hook back at her wail giving her the finger y’all’s should of seen it wish I had a camera

It appears that they havent stocked since the end of last month still saw a lot of fish on the fishfinder but they seem to be scattered

Yes their stocking is all mess up. Their main place for years just down the road shut down so now its DFG which doesn't stock very often plus small fish and the other place is way up North I hear. But you would think that lake would still be full of fish. Hope you have better luck next time.

First part of the year I was doing great but the last couple months have not been to the lake and last week got skunk. But the bite will come back. Caught this one around June or July

I would have thought there would be some hold over fish from the plants they did for the fishing tournament last month

I am sure there are a lot of fish in that lake, for what ever reason the bite has slow down.

I didnt know the hatchery shut down, I thought it was still a thing. I did see a large salmon swimming upstream the other day in the river in Snelling if that is any useful info.

Yes the hatchery is close , heard the state would not give them enough water, that doesn't really make sense but who knows. A few salmon make it up here this time of year. Need to take a ride to La Grande and check them out.
