I have caught or snagged many water birds including a pelican, but never a bird of prey. A broken line sounds like the best outcome for you. I have handled several hawks and an eagle tangled in both wire and mono on land. They can be disastrous. The first one for me was a little sparrow hawk hooked to a fence as a teen. After several pretty serious cuts, I took the time to research books on handling birds in case I was ever in that situation again. It payed off. Now that it is so easy on the internet, I suggest anyone who spends time in the outdoors read up on handling wildlife. Some game you need to stay clear of for both their capability to inflict injury and disease. Call a pro if you can. Note: rabies and bird flu are nothing to mess with

I caught 72 turtles this year and 93 last year. They like corn.

Are they legal to keep and eat in your state?

I've caught a couple seagulls accidentally trolling shallow stickbaits. Both released. Don't fight much either but who would with a couple hooks in them?

Had a 3 1/2 foot gator(a small one) take a Zora Spook. Got him into the kayak and was able to get the bait back before releasing him. Fun, fun.

NJ snapping turtle limit is 1 12” turtle 🐢 a day. All other species including invasives are protected. I no longer know anyone who wants snappers so I release them.

A friend of mine was night fishing for bass many years ago with his wife when a Grat Hirned Owk also snatched his wife’s jitterbug, I wasn’t there at the time but did relive the story from both of them, they had a devil of a time getting the jitterbug out of its 5alons but managed to do it with two sweatshirts and a needle nose.

I once caught a Mermaid and then I fell asleep after hours of arduous lovemaking. Of course she got away without me taking a picture. All I have are those sweet, sweet memories.

Yup! That blue smoke will do that to you. You might want to stay away from that stuff on election day.
