Caught a board once 2ft long 1/2x4 Hooked it in the corner so when I was reeling it felt just like a fish darting back and forth, up and down. Had my partner get the net and a board came up.

Had a Great Horned owl sweep down and grab a Jitterbug while night fishing
in the dark. Fought it in the sky for two minutes before it broke the line.

Wow, that is something you would never forget!

My friend thought he had a whopper Walleye on. Fished it for 5 minutes in a pretty strong current. Turned out to be a lost anchor line about 10’ long..I think it had the anchor attached and finally came off.

I was sitting on my back deck one night with a friend and we watched as 4 owls came one at a time and landed on a tree branch above us. They sat there a minute or two and they left in the same order flying single file thru the woods following each other. It was pretty unbelievable. I think it was Owl Force training night for them.

Was that a largemouth or smallmouth board?

I caught 72 turtles this year and 93 last year. They like corn.

What is the most unusual critter, fish or other, that you have caught, not snagged on hook or line, but actually bit and hooked. A photo would be great if you have one. Mine was a mink. The circumstances of landing and releasing it, did not lend itself to taking photos.

Bummer Bapabear🎣😑

Years ago I was fishing a lure and caught a small bluegill that a LMB tried to swallow as I was reeling in the bluegill. The LMB ate in head first so while I was reeling him in, he couldn't gack out bluegill which it did immediately after I landed him. Both were set free as I was on private property with a promise to catch and release.

I can relate to that. Out of Port Townsend,WA years ago, I hooked a greenling. It picked up a hitchhiker ling which picked up a much bigger hitchhiker ling. All three fish were netted and ended up in the skillet. The greenling I estimated at over one pound and the biggest ling was in the 40# range. That was way before all the size and number restrictions on saltwater fish in Washington.
