What is the most unusual critter, fish or other, that you have caught, not snagged on hook or line, but actually bit and hooked. A photo would be great if you have one. Mine was a mink. The circumstances of landing and releasing it, did not lend itself to taking photos.

I understand I caught a diving bird once and it wasn't happy with the circumstance either and getting it released was an new experience for me

Plenty of turtles, soft shelled in Arkansas, and both painted and snappers in WI. I had a few close calls with Otters while trout fishing, but thank Goodness I didn’t have to deal with those…

Salmon fishing years ago off Mukulteo. Stopped to get rid of a dogfish. Not as deep as we thought. When we started up dad had a heavier drag on his line, thought it was seaweed. Reeled in a 7"dungeoness. Mom caught a code. Had a good dinner.

Fishing in a channel between two lakes north of Spokane. Daughter caught a duck, one heck of a fight and daughter was afraid the duck was hurt. Just through the bill. Cut the line and away it went

Yeah, got one of those earlier this year trolling for salmon with 40Grit...no fun but 40Grit got him off. Seagulls are no fun either!

Years ago I was fishing a lure and caught a small bluegill that a LMB tried to swallow as I was reeling in the bluegill. The LMB ate in head first so while I was reeling him in, he couldn't gack out bluegill which it did immediately after I landed him. Both were set free as I was on private property with a promise to catch and release.

Had a Great Horned owl sweep down and grab a Jitterbug while night fishing
in the dark. Fought it in the sky for two minutes before it broke the line.
