Interesting. All the summer caught pollock I have ever cleaned are so full of worms that I have thrown them out. ( When I say full, I mean full} I have never fished them during an Alaskan winter. We are not allowed to fish over 120 feet deep hesar in Puget Sound to protect the yellow eye, so I rarely see pollock or cod any more. I am glad they are useable in your area.
I love Sabiki fishing. We used to do it for herring bait in Alaska. Always fun to get a full load. We occasionally lost a rig, or at least a hook to dollies.
As far as ocean swells, I used to sail a Venture 21 off Monterey. I can remember the swell being big enough that we went from trough with nothing but water and sky to a feeling like we were looking down at cannery row with a caverine off water below us. The thing that made that day more memorable than normal, is that in spite of the swell, we had to fire up the outboard to get home, for lack of wind. It was glassy. On the other hand, I have found myself in 5 foot wind waves with green water breaking half way up a Uniflight 28's windshield and the custom added deck scuppers running like fire hoses. The sailboat was such a relaxing pleasure. The Uniflight, not so much. Note: If your boat can not handle a fouled up forcast on the water you are fishing, then get a bigger boat, or just don't go. If it can happen, it will!

The last time I went deep sea fishing out of Hampton Beach, NH a buddy and I caught over 200 pounds of pollock. We ended up with 137 pounds if fillets. I was so sick of pollock I haven't willingly eaten it since then and that was over 13 years ago. Give me cod or haddock, even cusk just no pollock.

Not here in New England. If you order a fish sandwich or fish & chips you get haddock. Pollock isn't even a close second to haddock which is an excellent white fish.

And imitation crab doesn't look or taste like crab. It's garbage. I refuse to eat it and I love seafood.

Hi Chief, I'd love to go fishing with you. Saltwater fish are the only kind I eat. Freshwater fish just don't have the same flavor. I'm in Laconia, where are you? Spring is probably better for me right now I have winterization chores that are keeping me busy in the house and yard.
