Got some fishing in before the rain.
I had crabs left over from yesterday. Wound up with four fish. Two were 14".
Wish I had more crabs. Got cut short but still caught and fun. CPR

Nice morning Frog. Are you using traditional Virginia hooks,or the newly popular Blackfish Jig heads?

For the fish I'm getting.
Regular 1/0 hooks. I have some jigs but the baitshop charges a lot. So I go with the rigs I tie myself much cheaper.

They didn't have the Jigs back when I was fishing the salt. When I was a kid we used Virginia hooks on a tarred leader, and when I had my boat on the sound we used Virginia hooks on a mono leader. Every Tog article I see in the Fisherman now, is using the Jig heads.

Thanks for this update. Have you ever used sand fleas instead of green crab? Regarding the rig, is this a standard hi/lo rig with two drop loops? What weight do you use? Thanks in advance.

No sand fleas around where I fish but I know they work.
I use the rig in the picture easy to tie. My sinker is 1 oz. I'm catching but with the strong current I should use more.

I use the one on left. green

Still have some of those hooks Fred. We called them 'Norfolk' hooks down in NJ. Virginia is where Norfolk is so why not?

I probably still have some too Martin, LOL. Not that I'm a hoarder, or anything.

My fish were smaller so the teeth were more pointy. Don't mess with the mouth.

Sand Fleas cause the Tog to pull the bait into his mouth instead of nibbling the bait off of the hook. Fiddler Crabs also work well.

Fiddlers were always my favorite, when we could get them.
