Ok so I'm a firm believer that Jaws is alive and chilling in ocean city new jersey lol decided to take my youngest down to ocean city today to the fishing pier got down there and changed are minds and went to the boardwalk instead and decided to cast a couple off the beach she hooked into something that not only pulled me into the ocean but spooled every bit of line off the pole I'm talking like 40 lb test atleast 100 yes of line had her laughing her ass off while I'm standing there wet I thought it was going to snap the pole on me I gave it about a 15 minute fight before it won told her it was time for bed and we left lol definately gonna have to go back after that one again
Sounds like a great time always wondering what it might have been though pretty cool
Sometimes the one that got away is the most fun.
I read over the weekend that large bluefin tuna were in the mouth of Shark River Inlet and along the Monmouth County shore line.
Odds on favorite you hooked a tuna. Especially if you spooled really fast.
Tunas typically hit and run. Sharks also run, but nothing like a tuna.
Just my thoughts.
Sounds like a lot of fun and a wonderful story for life! And you got to create that memory with your daughter! How wonderful!!
Tight lines my friend!
It was a much, much more interesting day than you both expected.
It would have been nice to see what stole your line 🤷🏼♂️

Sounds like a great memory you guys made together dad 👍
Now that would be exciting
It is the ones that get away that you remember. You will both think about that fish for the rest of your life. Most of us who fish carry those memories with us.

I'm thinking black drum.
Could be. Could also be a brown or a sand tiger shark. Both are still around and can run well over 100#
Sharks generally are a slow pull, kinds like hooking the rear bumper on a bus. A tuna will take your line and haul the mail.
Speaking of sharks, I found this a few months ago.
