Sometimes the one that got away is the most fun.

I read over the weekend that large bluefin tuna were in the mouth of Shark River Inlet and along the Monmouth County shore line.

Odds on favorite you hooked a tuna. Especially if you spooled really fast.

Tunas typically hit and run. Sharks also run, but nothing like a tuna.

Just my thoughts.

Sounds like a lot of fun and a wonderful story for life! And you got to create that memory with your daughter! How wonderful!!

Tight lines my friend!

It is the ones that get away that you remember. You will both think about that fish for the rest of your life. Most of us who fish carry those memories with us.

Could be. Could also be a brown or a sand tiger shark. Both are still around and can run well over 100#

Sharks generally are a slow pull, kinds like hooking the rear bumper on a bus. A tuna will take your line and haul the mail.

Speaking of sharks, I found this a few months ago.
