Traveling across Nebraska and have the opportunity to fish a few hours at Lake Mcconaughy, tomorrow. ( 10/10/2022) Looking for Cat Fish are anything that bites. I catch and release.

Lake Mac is pretty low so 4-wheel drive is required to access most areas. Might try around the low water ramp on the north end of the dam.

Thanks for the heads up. Once I got to the lake, it was to low at the dam. A ranger advised me , without a boat, the fishing opportunities were low.
He indicated, the level was low, due to drought and water needs for the farmers.
Also, they are working on putting a new water coating on the dam.
Maybe, next year.
Try Lake Ogallala for rainbows always worth a try, where there is overflow on the diversion dams below the lake fished the flow, trout congregate around the faster flow of water. Canal is tougher to fish but a record rainbow might be possible.

Lake Ogallala Is being drained by the state and is also very low. Don’t know if it has a. Mussel problem?
CNPPD drained Lake Ogallala a couple weeks ago to do repair work on the gates to the North Platte River and Sutherland Canal.
