Generally speaking For back bays and inlets, the ideal times are 1 hr before high tide and the first two hrs on the outgoing tide. I have had days when the outgoing stayed good until slack tide. We drift for flounder so there are times when the drift is too fast. Slack tide has no drift at all, so not many fish are caught until the tide changes. I have fished incoming tide and caught fish for hrs, other times can’t find one.
