Recently moved to Gadsden, Alabama. Looking for a place to fish close by. I used to fish a lot when I was young but have not fished in years. I am close to the Coosa.

Go down to 759 bridge and take River Rd to access under the bridge. Parking right under the bridge offers protection from the weather and the rocks that line the bank always hold fish.

Dang ! You and Hacksaw are practically neighbors ! Maybe the two of you should consider a day on the water together ! You really aren't that far apart !

No luck with rentals on the Coosa. What is a good starter rig for me and 12 year old boy ??

Are you talking about renting a boat, or buying a boat?

MP; As I'm somewhat biased toward Shakespeare and Shimano, you could look into or disregard the following; for the boy, the UglyStik Spinning Youth Combo - 6' (about $40 ) for a starter rig -
for yourself, a Shakespeare UglyStik rod between 6' and 7',
in either GX2 or Pro Lite models ($40/$50) with a Mitchell 300, Shimano Sienna/ Catana/Sedona ($35 to $50) or Pfleuger President ($50) ! There are plenty of other choices, but these are good rigs for the price and last for years with a little care ! You can either check them out on the 'net' or browse around your favorite sporting goods outlet for hands-on comparison (best way to shop, in my opinion) ! The 'Youth' rig was advertised at Target for $35, a
$5.00 saving over other outlets ! Good luck and tight lines !

Yeah me and BB have discussed that Big A. We’re both waiting for one of us to get to feeling better and then we’ll hook up. There’s a couple of places we both have fished. I’d love to meet BB in person and go fishing with him. BTW, don’t tell him I said this but he’s not really bad. He’s a Teddy Bear. 🐼

Maybe a more populated city near you would rent pontoon boats. I would ask the neighbors if they know of any place. Be sure to outfit all of you with life vests when you go. Michael, I looked on the web and got these numbers you can call.
call Coosa Landing at 256-549-4677 or Parks & Recreation Main Office at 256-549-4680. Good luck.
