Whatever "it" is, appears to be RISING from, as opposed to falling towards, Earth's surface.
The "corona" (flared light) is very similar to the pics I have seen of jets etc., taken at the very moment they break the sound barrier..... only this (by virtue of the fact that you took several pics) was a 'prolonged visual', rather than the "see it.... now it's gone" variety.
Interesting shots, might want to contact some astronomical person, like a professor, to explain the corona's "double flare" ("X" flare...?), that's kinda unusual,as well.
I am assuming that you checked to see if any launches were scheduled for that time, though Jersey is a long way from usual launch sites like Florida....hmmm.
Thanks for sharing, gotta love a good UFO sighting with little obvious source or origination, huh ?
Good luck on this, wish I could help identify, but whatever it was..... not your normal sky sighting, for sure. Keep us posted if you find out anything.

Space debris burning up coming through the atmosphere maybe

Kandy.... I think it's going in the "up" direction, not coming from space. When our spaceshot failed, it looked a lot like this. Then it detonated😨.

Excellent shots! Looks like a rocket though. We saw them here many times in the early '70s. Vandenburg down south and AeroJet up here. Course they didn't know anything about it. Seen rockets launch near the side of the road at AeroJet. Right place, right time. These weren't no Estes. Thirty + ft tall. Who knows?

H.....Not an exploratory mission of that sort.....The purpose of this mission is to crash into it, to see if we could alter the path of something else later if we need to change it from approaching or crashing into the earth . Kinda like a the Bruce Willis movie but not quite so dramatic. Skimmed the article about this recently in Wired magazine.

Don't you and Henry G go getting too much of a swelled head or making a claim to having a "genius complex"..... on your assumption that the pics were of the "DART" asteroid-moving mission.
Not unless the "UFO" pics posted to open this thread were taken about TEN MONTHS AGO !!!

Hehehe....guys... THAT particular rocket needed to travel 7 million miles to meet up with the asteroid they're trying to "nudge"......and it launched IN NOVEMBER 2021 !!!

Possibly a SpaceX launch viewing, if there were clear skies in New Jersey....?? Though strangely, still rather low on the horizon for possibly being visible (?) in N.J., hundreds of miles away.

The "U" is still up for discussion regarding this "FO", imo
