I remember fishing a canal near homestead Florida quite a few years back. Caught a nice bass daytime and came back at dusk to try again. As it got dark I lit the lantern that I brought with me and saw 8 red eyes 👀 looking at me from a short distance away. Fishing ended quickly. As I northern boy I didn’t know much about gators.
Definitely need to be cautious around any body of water especially as it gets dark.
Stay safe and tight lines

Lol Tks for that info. Salt water canal sea wall on my side 2-3 ft drop at low tide. If there a lot of rain it comes over the wall at high tide. People in the area claim it’s a rare sighting
