Anybody know how much weight to add to my line (lead line) to get 50' depth at a trolling speed of 1mph. Of course I need to also know how much line to let out.

I was going to try to calculate all this, but I'm concerned about my head exploding!

Hey, Phil. Here’s a chart that I found that may help you. But I’m not sure if it pertains to using lead line. You may have to do a little subtraction… 🐟on

Trying to fish Kokanee at Shaver Lake CA, but no bites at the beginning of September 2022. Weather has been quite hot >90 deg. Is this just a bad time to find Kokanee? I tried letting out my line from 50' to 160', but nothing? I tried a pink hoochie, as well as DozerDave's wedding ring spinner.

Hey, Phil. Kokanee are a cold water fish and they typically will hang around where it’s +\- 54*. So of course the warmer the surface temps the deeper they will be. The lake that I fish was ranging from 65 to 70* on the surface and I was catching fish between 45 and 55’ deep. So somehow you will need to figure out how deep they are and then figure out what kind of weight and line back you’ll need to get there. Do you know how deep that lake averages? That might help you figure out where they are. There’s just a lot of variables on different lakes so I hope you the best and just keep after them and maybe ask around the area. I would like to think that some of the locals would be happy to give you some tips. Good luck… 🐟on
