Hey Guys,
I've been on this site for about 10 minutes now. Recently moved to NE Cincinnati suburb (Maineville) from the cornfields of N Cen Illinois. I could use some info about this lake or any in this neck of the woods.
"A day spent fishing doesn't count against your life expectancy"
Thanks in advance...

Was there a few weeks ago but fell out of the camper and didn't get to fish. From the boat launch follow the shore around past the marina and the campground beach area there are some fish habitats out there. There were also a lot of people out further to the north east past the wake area fishing in what I'm assuming is shallower water.

Ceasor creek near Lebanon may be a closer option also I believe it's off route 48. See if Mr Bragg chimes in he's the expert in that area.

Correction Caesar creek state park is off route 42 not 48. Sits between 42 and I 71

Cowan state park south west of wilmington might also be a location to try. I just spotted it on a map no nothing about it. Have heard good things about Ceasar creek and CJ Brown.

I get down to the Springfield area often I have a Daughter who lives there. Also get to Springboro a few times a year to a sister- in-laws house. But don't get to fish very often. 2 other places to check out that have good fishing if you have a boat are Indian lake but it has had a bad weed problem this year. This is off 33 near Belfountain.
Grand lake on the West side of St Mary's Ohio also has good fishing. I caught qute few blue gill in the channels there earlier this summer. Kiser lake state park south east of Sydney looked inviting but I haven't had time to try there. No motors allowed there.

Ken,
Thanks a bunch for all the input. I love fishing for bluegills. They are just delightful coming out of the fryer.
I like your name,by the way...

grampdad What are you fishing for? I live in southwest Ohio, and I have fished several different lakes in the area. Let me know what you are after and if you have a boat or not.

FF, I love fishing for Bluegills. I don't mean the 3 inchers every kid catches from the bank, but decent 7,8,9-inch fish. Hard to beat bluegill fillets coming out of the fryer. I do have a nice 16.5-foot aluminum boat set-up for fishing. Bow mount trolling motor, 40 HP Merc tiller.
It's not too easy for me to get out for a full day. I'm raising 3 grandkids by myself, but fishing is fishing. Sometimes the Bluegills have to come first. 😉
I'm all ears if you don't mind sharing... Thanks..

The best place to catch Bluegill and Perch is Indian Lake. Fish around Dream bridge, you should find bluegill, perch, saugeye and catfish. If you like crappie, go to Lake Loramie, put in at the back ramp and use bass minnows, not crappie minnows. Go under the bridge by the ramp and fish on the left side. You can also catch bluegill, crappie and saugeye at Ceasar Creek, put in at the back ramp and fish the creek until you find them. CJ Brown has great walleye fishing, if you can find them. Start at the ramp on the righthand side, facing the ramp, use nightcrawler harness and troll at 1.5 mph. The depth will change dramatically, be prepared to raise or lower your harness as needed. You should use a drop shot rig to keep the crawler off the bottom but your sinker ticking the bottom, if you see the fish close to the bottom. CJ does not have big crappie, but it has some nice bluegills. You might want to try Rocky Fork Lake, it has big crappie, big bluegills, saugeye and walleye. Good Luck!

Hey Ken,
I have a 18' Ranger bass boat with all the latest Lowrance electronics. Let me know the next time you go out, maybe I'll join you on the lake.
