Try casting to/under the dock from the shore, before walking out on it. Senkos or gulp General /powerbait in green pumpkin. Fish very slow unless it's weedy then reel-pause reel to keep it moving over the tops

Thanks. I've casted near this dock and all around the edges. I think the bass have so many minnows and bait fish to choose from around this dock, that if they hit our bait(live or artificial), it's just random luck. Water levels fluctating, temperatures(the water can get to 85), all have a bearing on the fishing also.

The way this dock is set up -- a large T, makes it impossible to fish under it plus it's got a cable on one side that can hang you up. The minnows and bait fish are under the dock. The bass break top water under the dock early mornings. It seems like flies or something like a small bug might attract the bass within a few feet of the dock.

Try using a fly on a 3' leader on a clear bobber, use light mono and "pop" it ever so slightly slowly reeling in. That might work when bass are breaking top water unless you haven't used any other top water lures. Use flies that are like what the bass are hitting in AM. I used this years ago and it worked pretty good!

Good idea. We've talked about that.

Maybe with a pair of hip boots you could walk along the shoreline and cast ahead of you.

I can cast to the shoreline from the dock with top water lures. Hip boots wouldn't work well where we fish for a variety of reasons.

bank or dock
stay still stay low the fish are watching you
try sittin on your bucket. every movement on the dock distracts fish
we used to fish off the dock in tx where we kept the boat. didnt even have to take the boat out: plenty of fish rite under it. 5yo grandie we called her kingfish usually caught the most and the biggest.
she always sat legs crossed away from the edge of the dock just the tip of her rod over water never failed'
stay still stay low
