What's the name of the impoundment you're fishing? I'll take a look and get a better idea

Douglas Lake. Public dock in Dandridge, TN. There's also a boat launch there.

Holy crap man, the water level is way down there, I see docks with dry land under them.

True. Not where I fish right now but it will go down more in the next month. Tennessee Valley Authority was created quite awhile ago to regulate water levels in this area. The Tennessee River feeds a lot the lakes in this area. We also have smaller rivers that feed into the lakes. The resorts near me really can't open here until sometime in May and shut down in October/November. Rainfall plays a big role. We've spoke with TVA officials to get info. Every year is different.

Next suggestion is to try a Lindy rig and a minnow or a chunk of crawler. The walking sinker will allow you to stir up the bottom as if the bait is foraging, as well as make some noise on the rocks or wood. A Z-Man Elaztech twister, Finesse worm, crawfish or water dog should get the job done, too. A full turn of the handle every 30 seconds or so may be the ticket. Good luck!

Thanks John. Great ideas. I'm open to trying anything to improve the odds.

Greg, have you ever tried in the cove, at the beginning of the dock? I'd be throwing towards the rocky ledges on the left side, and walking the lure down into deeper water.

Yes. Multiple times. In deeper and shallow water.

If you are fishing docks from land, cast beyond the end of the dock and retrieve as close to the pilings as possible . You will not spook the fish and they will hit whatever you are casting be it worm or chatterbait.

Hey g! Haven’t been on the stage for a while. I’m with the plastic worm folks. What works for me is worm hook with or without bullet weight. My go to here in SW Florida is Zoom Super Salt Plus in motor oil/chartreuse or purple with a red fleck. Light bump followed by a short retrieve ( two foot) then a pause for ten or so seconds. Repeat. The salt gradient seems to attract the bass and makes them hold onto the artificial longer for a higher percentage of successful hook sets. Also small RoosterTails 1/8th ounce in bright pink or the green yellow red combo. These work well in the green murky water in the creeks and small lakes or ponds. Good luck!😎

Thanks BB. Nice to see you back on FS. I have some worms in my box, just need to try them more. The bait shop guy will set me up with rooster tails.

I fish Sones River when it's muddy and not clear I use dark colors. I use light color in clear water, trying reversing your thoughts on colors . Doesn't make sense but it works for me. I'm always willing to try something new and not coventional.

I know many, probably most of FS morning regular posters, have a boat or kayak you use to fish. As many of you know, I don't own a boat.

I've tried minnows, top water baits, worms, fishing deep and shallow with very limited results. Fished with and without a float in a variety of locations with limited or zero results. I fish early mornings. I'm not interested in fishing in the dark from the shore or a dock with limited or zero lighting. We catch bass and an occasional bluegill.

Here's the question for dock and shoreline bass fisherman, do you have a consistent approach that works for you? I''ve worked 2 rods with live and top water lures with zero results. Just looking for some new tips. I'll continue to fish, just looking for new ideas. Btw, I do talk to bait shop owners regularly.

Don't suggest a boat, I can't afford that now. Maybe someday. Thanks for any feedback.

Fishing can be frustrating if not catching so need to just enjoy the environment while still trying. When I approach an area from shore or on a dock, I usually am ready rigged up or do so where going to fish from. Then I will just sit and wait for things to calm down since fish will pick up the vibrations of you walking to site or dock (heavily fished areas fish seem more spooky). I'll wait about 5 minutes (recall watched pot never seems to boil)before letting first cast out. I used to drive my dad crazy as a kid when put rugs on floor of Al row boat and wrapped cloth around the oarlocks to keep down noise. Also, sat on floor to lower profile. Now see people standing in boats catching fish, so what can I say.

Will do. Others have suggested the same.

Don't forget to spit on your bait.

At this point, that's a possibility along with dynamite or C-4.
