Hi. My name is Marna. I'm a "young" senior citizen, who grew up in Eastern WA fishing with my dad. He taught me to clean a trout at a very young age saying "if you caught it, then you clean it". I loved fishing, but sort of fell away from it in my later years. Now, I'm widowed after 45 years of marriage, and a very good friend is helping me get back into it. I'm so glad to find this forum, and I'm enjoying reading all the "fish" talk. We will be going into the Ocean Shores, WA area this coming week, and I'm wondering about the fishing opportunities in that area; i.e. Copalis Beach and the surrounding area. I've heard Steelhead is a possibility. We have gear and tackle for many kinds of fish. We're just not familiar with what's there. I'd appreciate any information anyone might feel like sharing. And of course, I totally understand if people don't want to share. My son and daughter are avid hunters, so i get it. Thanks for whatever tidbits anyone can share!

I lived in Soap Lake for almost 2 years and was most impressed with the trout fishing in Park Lake and recently did a bucket list trip taking my son and daughter to north end of Blue Lake and remember well ice fishing alkali lake. Why go so far when the fishing is fantastic in your back yard?

You might also consider Duck Lake. It is right there n Ocean Shores and has some large trout. Plunking with marshmallow and worm worked for me

Good morning, Marna, and welcome to the stage. The PNW members have a tendency to sleep a little later than the rest of the country. So, hang in there, hopefully, someone will come along and point you in the right direction. Good luck!

Speak for yourself Fly. Some of us here in the PNW still have to work for a living and being self employed,my A-hole boss (me) says I have to get my work done before I can come out and play on the stage.
As for Mama, welco.e and nice introduction, its nice that theres still some out there with manners.as for fishing, there are steelhead and salmon in the rivers, some of the bays or harbors may have docks you could fish from for jack salmon, flounder and other bottom fish, best thing would be to talk to the local tackle shops in that area for where and what to fish for.I myself fish Puget Sound and the rivers in the Seattle-Everett area so don't have experience near Ocean Shores.Good luck and tight lines.

Hi Marna, you could try North Jetty in Ocean Shores for Rock Cod (sea bass) or what ever else is there and in Copalis you could try Copalis River the mouth of the river feeds into the ocean might be able to catch some Surf Perch check your regulations and ask some bait shops in the area.

We aren't sleeping a little later than the rest of country. We are checking our eyelids for light leaks. The older you get the longer it takes.

We came to Ocean Shores to escape the heat of Central, WA. We do take advantage of our great area. But was curious about the fishing here at Ocean Shores.
