Need fishing info and restaurant suggestions for Crystal River, Florida.
Hey Stage friends, We are headed to Crystal River, Fl. in mid October for some fishing. Any suggestions, guide recommendations, etc would be appreciated. We're not specific to any one species, and just want to enjoy the fishing there at that time of year. We did see in the Fl. regs that it looks like the flounder season closes on Oct. 15th for a certain time period. Does that apply to this area also? <))))><

Yes, Flounder season is closed Oct. 15th - Nov. 30th statewide.....when they move closer to shore. Seems like seasons for all fish are being shortened here. Starting in '23 new restrictions go in to effect on Gag Grouper and Redfish

Reminds me of Alaska. They beat up on the sports fisher people but let the commercials have a free for all.
Contact Pete’s Pier for guides.
Flats Chance Fishing Charter.
Trout and Reds.

Hey PD,
We don't have much of a flounder fishery in this area. Trout, reds, snook, tarpon, kings, drum and sheepshead mostly.
For restaurants try Seafood cellar, Dan's clam stand. In old Homosassa try the monkey bar, crumps and the freezer for shrimp. Have fun!

Made more sense to him, as a guide it's in his best interest to protect his source of income
Thanks guys for all you help. I'll try and post some pictures from the trip.
First the restaurants in Crystal River, the best for seafood is owned by a couple from Louisiana, and they have everything and it is outstanding. It is called Seafood Seller, and they have a great Webb site with the menu and pictures. Fresh oysters, clams, and crawfish, not to mention great grouper, catfish and shrimp. No reservations, but day and night there is a short wait, but you can also eat at the bar.
October is a great time for shallow water grouper, redfish, snook, and trout. However, this is a prime time for aFlorida fishing in the Gulf, so you should make a reservation. I think the two best guides are Dallas King,( think his site is something like Pirate charters, but just google his name and you should find it easily, and the other guide, who I fish with over there every two weeks is Glen Touchton, I think Southern Fishing or something like that, he is excellent for inshore, and offshore for shallow grouper as well. Good Luck.
I wanted to give an update of our Crystal river fishing trip. We fished 2 days and the weather was nice but windy. It was blowing out of the ENE and the outgoing tides were really moving. We caught lots of reds on shrimp and pinfish, some snook and s few trout. the trout were hard to catch because the flats had very little water due to the wind and new moon tide. Our group used 16 guides while we were there and they all were very good. We fishe d with Vincent Spageletto ( not sure of the spelling). He was a young guide, but he knew the area and had scouted for fish before our trip. We pulled 5 reds and 2 snook from under one pier with him.
Most of the other guides mentioned above were with our group, Dallas and Glen were outstanding also.
f I could figure out how to add pictures I would.
Can't wait to go back.
