Fished with 2 buddies for 5 days min 6 hrs a day. Only thing caught were 4 Carp. No perch Sunnis bass crappie or rock bass.

We threw lures and live bait and never even got a bite. What's going on with that lake? Is it runoff from the grapes and Amish farms.
Anyone know?

Andy - out of curiosity I googled and looked at a number of articles regarding the poor fish production at Seneca and apparently this has been a problem since at least the early 2010s. They suspect it to be a combination of factors including zebra mussels, invasive species of aquatic vegetation, high phosphorus levels, high salt levels, farm fertilizer runoff, lamprey eels, and Greenidge. Nothing conclusive however. Interestingly, the other lakes, Cayuga et al., haven't been similarly affected. which is really weird.

Nice reply DC ...The Finger Lakes all have off years but always come back with good fishing.Seneca may be a different story with all the concerns you mentioned. My boat has fish the yearly lake trout tournament along with boat captains a hell of a lot better than I am and the fishing has not been good. Hopefully DEC biologists can figure it out?

Also being 600ft deep and 35 miles long gives the fish lots of places to go.
