Myself and family members went fishing in the Crystal Bay yesterday. I caught about 6 Ladyfish. They put up a nice fight and jumping out of the water a few time; but no one told me that they Poop when caught. I n spent a good portion of the day cleaning the boat. I got most of it off with the exception of a couple of spots on a cushion. Ladyfishy is no lady!

Welcome to the Forum, iinc. I would say that about 80% of the members do not know that ladyfish are poopers. What do you say, guys? Now you know, iinc, I didn't.

Is a lady fish the same as a skip jack? if so, I have never noticed anything unusual. Just Sayin...RJS

I always aim their pooper overboard when I dehook them. Bear in mind too that they have hard mouths and the hookset should be strong or you will lose them.

Not the same fish. I thought a skipjack is a tuna. Do you mean leatherjack? Ladyfish will destroy your leader, they jump and spin and a make a big mess of it all.....full of small bones. Folks that eat them grind them up and make fish balls that are deep fried

Skipjack is a tuna and makes a better sashime than albacore ( albacore happens to be the most toxic of the tunas and the most expensive. Skipjack is more expensive than chunk light tuna but when you open a can and see the loin you know you got the better tuna. Put a little wasabi on a fresh raw skipjack morsel--heaven

I get mine at Aldi's when they have it. 95 cents a can last I bought it. Always look for it in Publix--never see it. Maybe they can't make enough profit on it. My opinion.

Got my PB redfish on a chunk of the ladyfish. Thought the fight would never end.
