I'm a new boat owner.
I live close to Crystal River and use the launch there. I've only been out on the Gulf of Mexico about 4- 5 miles. I'd like to locate the Bombing range on my Garmin. The Garmin is new to me also.
I've gone out from McCray's a few times with a friend's Bay Boat for Snook, Reds, Trout and an occasional Sheepshead. I'm trying to expand my fishing experience to Grouper, Reds Snapper and eventually Dolphin.

Good morning, Arnie, and welcome to the Forum. You didn't ask for help, but I am going to give you a word of caution. If I were you, I would make sure that I would go out with a fellow that knew how to launch and land a boat, knew the area, knew how to operate the depth finder, and knew how to fish. It would shorten the learning curve, and make for a much better and safer trip for you. Good luck, and we do love pictures.

Hi Ernie, this is Rich, I live in Leesburg (about 45min east of you) I live on Lake Griffin which is part of the Harris chain of lakes. Good bass fishing.

I live in old Homosassa near McCraes during the winter and have learned a little bit over the last few years. Hit me up in late November and we can get out on my boat or yours. I'll have a new simrad with Florida marine tracks when I get back! Be careful out there. Our area in very treacherous if you haven't had a lot of experience. It's easy to lose a prop, lower unit or just get stuck and have to wait for a high tide. My email is rcarhar58@yahoo.com. Let's go fishing!

I always appreciate advice. I've been launching at Ft Island Park. I've launch there about 10 times without problems. I did get into the edge of an oysters bed on my way to Crystal Bay. I was distracted. I have a Garmin onboard but I've learned you can watch that and where you're going.
I've only go out to the end of the markers. Yesterday and time before, nothing but a couple of Catfish and a half a dozen grunts.
I'd like to go further out but I feel that I need more experience. Who doesn't!
