Just signed up and wanted to say hello. I have recently gotten back into fishing and bought a 10 ft jon boat with just 2 trolling motors. Haven't had much luck at Flat Creek lake here. I have tried a lot of different lures/artificial worms no luck. Going to try Dodge county public fishing lake as soon as weather gets tollerable.

Welcome to the stage Chief. Good luck with the new water.

Chief , Welcome to the Stage. Fishing is cyclical as you know, and some waters are better than others. The point being, don't get discouraged. Keep looking for a good place and continue to try different things. And remember, there's more to fishing than catching. Relaxation, enjoying nature, making new friends, and more. Lots of different places to fish and enjoy, so...just do it !
Thanks for the welcome & encouragement. Will be posting as days of fishing come.
Welcome to the stage Chief. I wanted to share my thoughts with you about learning an area. If there is a good guide in the area I usually do a half day trip with them. I learn more in those few hours than five days of burning gas and drowning shiners. I used to go to a new lake and try to gather info and find the fish at a certain time of year, and I enjoyed doing that, but it's so expensive and I'm not getting any younger.
Thanks for the tips and welcome. I haven't been able to get out fishing in awhile due to some health issues and other commitments. I will be getting out a lot more as soon as the temperatures get down as these temps we have been having I can't tolerate due to a heat stroke I had a number of years ago. Thanks again.
