Hi, I am new to this Forum so I hope I can learn from others and share my stories. I fly fished Lake Panquitch in Utah last Friday (8/5/22) for the first time. Weather was nice, not too crowded. It was not a great fishing day overall, expected much more hits. I hooked 4 rainbows but only landed one because my new net fell off into the lake and was lost. In regard to flies, the ONLY thing they hit was a white mini leech jig by Landon Mayer. I threw scuds, sow bugs, woolly buggers in black, olive, you name it. Heading back on the 19th to try again.

Thanks for info Flygeek. Currently renting house in Cedar City. Fished Panquitch through ice this winter and did quite well. Will give try with fly rod soon. Thanks for update.

I have been thinking of trying the ice fishing up there. Was talking about it yesterday with someone.
Son has been fishing it since moving here in 2008 and got into ice fishing 3 years ago. Early season fishing is gr8; limits out with good-sized fish in 2 - 3 hours most days. We fished it Feb and Mar and did equally well - just took a little longer. Rainbow and occasional cutthroat.
Do you shore fish, float tube or boat?
Good luck on 19th.
Just fished panguitch Aug 1-5th on a pontoon boat. Stayed at Bear Paw resort, which I definitely recommend. Great people. 3 of us fishing, we lost count of how many we caught. We used nightcrawlers, powerbait. With most of being caught drifting. Mostly 2 lb+- rainbows, quite a few cutthroat this time. No tigers this trip. A lot of the cutthroat caught on a large white tube jig tiped with a bit of nightcrawler.this is the third year in a row we have been to panguitch the first week of August. If I can figure it out I will post pictures.

Sounds like a good time to me! Congrats!
Thanks! We do it every year. Each year it's pretty much catching not fishing. Lol
