That could very well be, Fish, I have caught the same brown on the very nest cast. I could tell by the wound on it's lip from the fly. He was hungry. I have also caught the same brown three days in a row at the same place. I always measure my trout over 16" and he was 17 3/8" all three days. I told him to wise up or somebudy was going to catch him and eat him. A far as I know, I never caught him again, so maybe he ended up in a frying pan.

" frying pan " Wasn't ready for that ending fg. All though most likely the truth.

It's possible Guru, but most types of fish that I've paid attention to are symmetrical, in their markings. Of course, barring any injuries.

I will have to check on that myself. I would think, there I go again, that nature does not allow that in most cases. In fact people are different from one side to the other, dogs have two different color eyes, etc. not sure about fish.

I’m going with same fish. Look at the tail. Looks split, like a injury. Looks the same to me.

Fred.... I'm glad you have paid attention to both sides of fish, it never occurred to me to check that. At least, until I saw this pop up on the Stage. Still probably won't check until I injure a catch badly, and am forced to harvest it. I'm particularly quick to get trout back into the water, have seen too many doing the side stroke on the top. Not against eating fish, just kinda have a soft spot for those I catch ...? ...

Heard you I did. Look at fish again. Halibut are a right eyed fish yet all other flatfish--flounder, sole etc--are left eyed.

Not so winter and summer flounder are different. Summer eyes to the left winter eyes to the right when born eyes are on both sides then as they age the transformation takes place πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ£πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

The only time I do that Maxx, is if I see some wierd flaw or unusual marking. Then I'll check the other side.

Henry--you taught me something of which I had no idea. Did some research to prove you correct in that winter flounder are right eyed. Makes me wonder if somewhere along the evolutionary path there was some interbreeding done or if it is a species unto itself. Same genus but different specie. Thank you for the info Henry

Yes Bobber the winter flounder up here are Blackback Flounder. They don't grow as big as Summer Flounder (Fluke) and have a much smaller mouth. The best bait for them are Sandworms, on a long but narrow (Chestertown) hook .

Your welcome bobber what blows my mind about the flounder is that they are born with an eye on each side of its head like a normal fish but by the time they are adults one eye shifts to the side with the other so the eyes on the right or the left coincides with which way the fish lies or the ocean floor I would think

So true Fred and they have sharper (pointed) teeth than the summer πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ£πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

Fluke have the bigger and sharper teeth Henry.(Summer Flounder).

As far as the eyes go, when they're born, they all swim upright, and look like a baby Bluegill that you can see thru. Fluke start laying on one side, Flounder on the other. As they grow the bottom eye migrates through the head to the top side. It's pretty cool.
