Kind of on the subject. Truck drivers let their trucks run on while parked at docks. Today four trucks are backed up getting loaded and sitting there running. Driver out of the truck. Lots of noise and wasted petrol. I heard it was supposed to be better for wear on the engine than shutting down and restarting. If that’s correct why not have an auxiliary electric fuel pump to get the oil pressure up before starting.

I think it’s more of a cooling down/warming up situation than fuel consumption.
