It is Johnson Outdoors, not Johnson Controls. I have found Johnson Outdoors to be a superb company. The bought Eureka under the umbrella and the products have improved immensely . They also have also bought Old Town Canoe and the infusion of capital has given some really great fishing kayaks and I speak from experience that the customer serve is awesome. I would not worry about Minn Kotas future . If experience is anything it will get way better . The other cool thing is the let the companies keep their identies and people. Seems all positive to me

Thanks for the info. Fred.
I'd like to continue with the Minn Kota and Humminbird products just without the problems. My units are great when they are working as I think they should. I just had some quality and service issues. I'm sure they could be resolved.

Recently some Stagers questioned the future of Minn Kota, with all the out of stock and supply chain issues. Being a multiple time customer, I received an E-mail from Johnson Controls, a couple day's ago. They apologized for the current issues, and explained their efforts to eliminate them.
Minn Kota : Expanding their manufacturing plant (Mankato MN.) by 50%, increased key machinery 6x, and added 200 new employees.
Hummingbird : Expanding manufacturing plant (Eufaula AL.) 25%, warehouse 40%, added 100 new employees, and went to a 24hour per day, 6 days a week schedule.
It appears to me that they have invested a lot in this expansion and plan on being around a long time. This combined with our chip companies bringing manufacturing back to this country, bodes well for the industry in general.
Thought I would pass this on to our fishing community.

That's often the problem Ted. The service personnel, or the people who install the units on boats don't live up to the reputation of the parent company. Unfortunately quality workmanship is a dieing goal. I've seen it in the Screw Machine industry. People are just punching a clock, for a paycheck at the end of the week. Its a sad state of affairs.

I've never seen the Redneck Yacht, I don't think. Is that the Whaler Ryan?

You're right on there. I noticed that as well where I worked before retirement. It seems that most of the workers don't really want to do that kind of work but only want the pay check. It's sad that people keep at a job they don't really like only for a pay check. Such a waste of a life. They should move on and let someone that really likes that kind of work have the job. I feel that I liked 80% of my job at that time. After 16 years retired I don't miss the work as much.

That's a great idea, IF you can find people who want to work. We've had trouble finding good people for over 10 years. No one wants to work with their hands anymore. They just want to sit in front of a screen and push buttons. It's a very sad time in this country.

I've noticed that same thing. At one time in my distant past I did watch repairs. I saved some for work after retirement. Then I realized that kind of work is too sedentary for my future health. I think they're going to realize the same thing as they age.

Hopefully it won't be too late Ted. People wonder why American companies are moving manufacturing overseas, you can't manufacture without people who want to work.

The supply chain has been a problem. In the kitchen business itโ€™s been a perfect storm of COVID, supply chain, increased sales and employees not wanting to work.
Might be time to buy stock in Mini Kota.

Or Johnson Outdoors anyway. They also own Hummingbird and Cannon Downriggers, among others.

When I was in the work force we had some people that were mediocre at the job but excellent at something else that they couldn't make as good a living doing so the stayed for the money, not the enjoyment of the work. I thought of them as a "PERSON OUT OF PLACE", POOP! Not a bad person, just out of place.
