Vacationing to Gatlinburg next week. I want to catch some rainbow.
For some guaranteed trout, fish the "Old Mill" water fall in Pigeon Forge & don't try it without a trout tag because they will get you. A 3 day trout tag runs $45.00 for catch/release or $50 to keep what you catch
You will be less than 30 minutes or so to Cherokee Indian Reservation And some of the best fishing in the smokies as far as stocked waters are concerned they keep them full it does require a permit get them at almost any store on the Reservation good luck and tight lines.!
The pigeon river is full of good smallmouth, the visitor center between pigeon forge and Gatlinburg can give you information on fishing both inside and outside of the national park.... Regulations and licence requirements differ, and are fairly strictly enforced.... From a certain point between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg all you need is regular Tennessee license, going back towards Gatlinburg there are national park permits required, and size and creel limits are different.... I can't help you with cost, I have never fished on the national park side, only fished for smallies on the Pigeon Forge side.....

Thank you. I purchased the fishing license with trout tag and the additional Gatlinburg tag. I’m believe in the DNR and don’t mind paying for licenses.
Thank you!!! I’ll try there too!
If you fish the pigeon for smallies, throw a Booya pond majic buzz bait in black and yellow around the edges in slack water, and green pumpkin grubs or hair jigs in the rapids.... In the rapids throw upstream, and bounce the grub/jig back down stream... The fish will be laying behind rocks in the fast current.... You will get hung up a lot, but you will be surprised at the numbers and quality of fish laying in the swift water.... On a hot day the cool water is great for wading..... Good luck and remember, we like pictures! ...
Don't forget the zip lock bags for your wallet and phone!
