I did more research this morning, about three hours of it, and came to the consensus of many and I was not going to waste my time putting it on and I was going to use my usual, Strike 3. Strike 3 worked but was not good, but I have been using it for 5 - 6 years. It is supposed to kill weeds for a year, and I complained that it didn't kill weeds for a year, but they said that it did, and the weeds that are up now are different weeds. That could be, who is to know. Anyway and anyhow, Marion said that we don't have any bees now and not to use that damn stuff. O.K., so, I sprayed the vinegar solution, I will keep you posted on how it works. I sprayed 3 gallons of it on and I didn't get done, but we will see how this works before I put any more on.

I remembered a guy who was a retired Hyway Patrol guy who wrote books, had a tv show and had news letter who was a real expert on this kind of thing. He said adding some dish soap to what you are spraying would help your product to work better, especially fertilizer and insecticides. For what it is worth.

Also a light grade mineral oil acts as a surfactant with both insecticide and weed killer. We have used it for years on the farm and it enhances the effectiveness of your spay. It can be bought at farm stores in the insecticide dept.

What I looking for is a weed & grass killer that is safe, and will not harm the butterflies and the bees. The solution that I used is a gallon of vinegar, a cup of table salt, and a tablespoon of dish soap. I mixed three gallons up and sprayed it around the rocks around the flower beds. What I understand is that it kills the plant but not the roots so that the plant comes back again in a couple of weeks. What I'm going to do next Spring is preem everything around the rocks. I did that about 5 years ago and it worked very well, but it was very expensive to do. I have a lot of flower beds.

yea I was thinking the same thing. I was once told if you but some garlic and water in the blender and blend it real good and spry it on a peach tree it would control peach leaf curl. I tried it and it did help but the whole neighborhood smelled like garlic for a couple days

I guess there are! ...... Agent Orange was a 50/50 mixture of two herbicides: 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T. It remained toxic for only days or weeks and then degraded, but it had a toxic contaminant, dioxin (2,3,7,8-tetrachloro-dibenzo-para-dioxin, or TCDD) , that did not degrade as readily and is still causing health problems.
Roundup on the other hand, (Isopropylamine salt of Glyphosate) is a different chemical. It is suspected of causing other health issues, however used as directed, I believe is safe.
Mix a small amount of surfactant (dish soap will work), and your weed killer will work much better as the surface tension will be broken an it will adhere to the weed and do its job.
The most "environmentally correct" way to get rid of unwanted vegetation is to pull them up by their roots!

Hi Flyguy My wife and I live in San Manuel Arizona. You might want to look this place up. It is a desert nothing much grows here but weeds. We have tried the Vinegar solution but it only works for a short time and like you said we get another kind of weed. We have pets so we have to care about what we spray. We also have bees here but they are stingless. They don't have a stinger but they do bite if they are threatened. So let me know how you make out with the Vinegar.

the way I get rid of weeds around my fence line and in other areas such as driveway is to use one of those propane torches and burn them. they will come back but it keeps them under control. of course if you aren't careful you could set your field, forest or house on fire but hey just a small price for effective non-toxic weed control right?

Tone it down friend. Even if your right, there are nicer ways of sharing information. Especially if you want to enlighten someone on the dangers of using a product.
