I agree with the previous posts, but what bothers me is that his Dad would not let him borrow his rod and reel; really???

If the kid loves fishing that much, why didn't his Dad buy him a rod and reel. One can buy a simple Shakespeare set up for $20. Just my nickel's worth.

Not knowing the dads financial situation and that there are two sides to every story is how i look at it.

Your opinion is much appreciated but from my back ground if I wanted something it was my responsibility to figure out how to earn it. Not saying my elders didnโ€™t pass things down to me but many of the things I had and still have I had to figure out a way to earn them. When I was given something by my family it was when and how they decided to give it to me. I earned my very first fishing rod and reel because my Grampa said if I didnโ€™t figure out how to buy my first set up Iโ€™d never be a compassionate fisherman. Well I guess he was right and Iโ€™ve passed that thought on to all of my kids and grandkids. They can ALL catch fish with the best of em๐Ÿ‘ Sorry โ€œrerunsโ€.

That is pretty special. The store owner obviously saw something special in this young man.

Giligan's Island and the Brady Bunch were always great no matter how many times you watch them. Fishing is always a great topic on a Fishing Website.
