Thanks Steve. They were good enough for the first night trip of the year. As always, looking for bigger ones.

1)Don't go there on Friday night. The "Trailer parking"was filled with passenger cars (picnicers and partiers)
2)Don't go on nights with no, or a late moon. No lights of any kind at the ramp, making it up the creek was tricky, even with a spotlight.
As soon as I launched, I had to park about 3/8 of a mile away and walk back. I decided to stop at the first tree for haha's, and caught a 1lb skunk buster. Worked the shady sides of 2 islands with no success, waiting for the sun to go down. Tried a point I used to fish and got a second, 1.25 lb Largemouth still on a Dinger. After sunset I started throwing topwater, and missed 3 in a row on a Hula Popper and a Pop-R. Nothing on a Jitterbug,or a Whopper Plopper, so I went back to the Hula Popper and finally got one. Only 1.75 lb. but the best of the night. Fished another 45 minutes and decided to try and find the ramp, then walk back to my truck.
Learned something else, there's a flash for selfies too, that's why they look so bright. Who knew?

Yes I do Russ. When I'm somewhere that has good surface weeds, and particularly Lilly pads. They're not fully up yet around here. Also I've noticed a lot less of them in many of the lakes I fish. I'm seeing more and more subsurface vegetation like Hydrilla, Coon Tail, and Milfoil spreading throughout the state. Less full size Lillys, and less Silver dollar ones as well.

Thanks Brad. Yeah it's much easier in daylight. In the twilight or dark, and a little ripple on the water, my reaction time was bad. I missed at least 3 , and one sounded pretty substantial. I was surprised that the Jitterbug and Whopper Plopper didn't produce in those conditions.

Fred.... Nice goin, how long after that flash did ya have to sit and wait to have your eyes recover, so you could navigate the boat ? I'm puzzled by the superiority of the Hula Popper over the Plopper and especially the Jitterbug. I hung up my last Hula on a stump years ago, and did not even make and effort to retrieve it, I rarely had even a wake and no take with it , but wrangled in some nice fish regularly with JBugs. All I can think is that my pop, pause, pop pop pause was not very convincing as far as the Hula bait was concerned. Tried other methods too, but almost never got a take. The days or nights I did, you could've caught bass on a cigar butt or a Bic with a hook duct taped to it. Now you went and gave me an excuse to buy some... If ya don't mind, what colors worked for ya ?

Yeah Fred, the big pads are definitely more scarce , and should be on the top by Independence Day. The mass of them at Black Pond, on the south end by the original dam was one of my favorite spots, Needed my sturdiness baitcasting rig and used 30# test to haul em out, and did so regularly. Hot sunny day, they were sure to be hanging out there in the shade with that nice cool trickle of current. Oh well, we're old and stuff changed, just gotta adapt.

Thanks Maxx. It's a different kind of flash. If you notice there's no LED or flashlight on the screen side. The whole screen lights up white, but its not super bright, so you're not as blinded as the flash on the back side of the phone.
My favorite by far is Coachdog, which I used Friday, but I have several others that work, a light green Frog, Black and Green, and all Black. Hula Poppers for me work better on smooth water, Pop-Rs and similar ones work better in rippled water. I've caught more fish on a Jitterbug than a Whopper Plopper, just probably due to familiarity.

I was thinking about doing the same thing Jwid. The only problem is many brand name hooks that size have a smaller eye, that doesn't fit well on the unusual Arbogast hook hangers.
And Thanks buddy.

I bought a treble hook replacement kit at BP. They worked. You can even go a little bigger or smaller. Sorry to long ago to give more information. But knowing they exist should help.

Some brands have a bigger eye, but since stores are usually out of stock, you have to buy them online. Most of the time the pictures on the website aren't the exact model that matches the description.
