I recently bought a Lowe boat trailer. It looks like new. here are three stickers on it with a 7 digit number on them, but, I cannot find a VIN #. Anybody got a clue where I might find it?

They like to hide those puppies, sometimes on top of the tongue sometimes under the tongue, sometimes on the rear of the trailer. If not there, call a Lowe dealer or a dealer, It should have 17 numbers/letters to it.

If you bought from a dealer the vin number should be in the contract or Bill of Sale. If I sell my used boat (person to person) I always put the vin number on the Bill of Sale that I provide to the buyer and then make a copy of it to keep for my self and give the buyer the original. I make up the Bill of Sale myself on my home computer.

I had no problem with the boat. The trailer was from ohio where registration is not required. It has been thru three owners, used only to take boat out of the water and sit for winter and put boat back in in the spring. It was never titled. Now in Indiana I need a title. The second owner is dead. I cannot find a VIN # on the trailer. Cannot even apply for a lost title without one.

Maybe you have done this but I would go to the DMV, Dept. of Motor Vehicle, explain what the deal is and I'm sure they will have a answer for your problem. They want your money and you want to do what is right.
Keep us posted on what happens, the answer would be good to know.

I an now in the process of obtaining title thru a Trailer Ownership Affidavit. Got to certify it was built using parts on hand. I will post the results. My other boat trailer was bought 3 years ago. The title has a VIN # on it, but, the plate on the trailer that says VIN# is blank. Whooda thunk.

I don't know about your state but in nc ,I went to DMV and told them it was a homemade trailer .They gave me a paper with a new vin # ,I had to stamp the # on the trailer right behind the hitch and on the axil with metal stamps .Then take it to be inspected at the highway patrol station .they sigened the paper ,took it to DMV and they gave me a tag. I am sure they have a home made trailer thing in your state .
