Finally got to cast my lure in on the south inlet & promptly got snagged & lost my lure! I tried again but the incoming tide was really ripping & I think it made for a poor bite!

The bottom of IRI is rocky so if you lure touche's down you will most often get snagged. The most common rig I've seen there is a bucktail jig with some sort of trailer like Gulp. When these are cast the idea is to work it deep as possible without hitting bottom. Takes a l ittle practice and good timing. This rig might net you a striper or blue. If tog are your target then a crab bait lowered into the rocks or right at the edge of the jetty will be your best bet. You might also find triggerfish that way. They also require quick action since they both duck back into the rocks as soon as they get the bait. Good luck.
