If your line is sticking the back of your spool, it sounds like the line is too loose. Take off all the line from your reel and respool, making sure the line is tight. One old tip is to run your line through a big book, maybe half way through the pages.
My opinion, you don’t need braided line gif trout pans/ bluegill. Four pound test is plenty. I use 2lb test.
Tight lines.

Hi there Jeff,
I really like the book idea. I will respool my reel, the braid is cursed that is on there now. :)

Hey mm, I looked at the Tackle Direct website yesterday and found that the current price for the Shimano IX1000R and the IX2000R has increased to $13.99 since I purchased the reel I showed in the earlier post. They are really good reels for the money.

Hi Everyone,
Shimano headquarters is close to my house so I walked into service with poles and reels. They quickly diagnosed the issue that one of the gears was upside down. I flipped the gear, took the offered Shimano lube and pole, reel and fisherman are all doing well.
