I braved the heat and humidity yesterday afternoon. I started at 5:15 and caught my bait and was rewarded with my limit of Redfish by 6:30. The three were 22-23 inches and made for an awesome dinner. My wife usually goes with me but was not feeling well after our walk that morning. Temperature in my truck showed 93*. The heat index was 105. Glad I didn’t go at 3:00.

Any day you catch your limit is a good day. Hope the wife gets to feeling better

I was able to catch a few 5” mullet with my cast net about 100 yds before I got to the location I caught them. It’s easy to catch bait this time of the year on most days. Sometimes we will buy a pint of live shrimp to try to catch some Drum but the last time we did the piggy perch got all of them😎👍

Thanks Hack, she is feeling much better now. She just got too hot on our morning walk that day and needed to stay in the cool. I’m out in the heat every day but she isn’t and she’s not acclimated to it😎👍

Yes, I captured a few with a cast net just before I got to the area I wanted to fish. The best baits were 5”-6” long and very frisky.😎👍

The winds have calmed down so surf fishing should be great if you go early. Try to get some live finger mullet. If you can throw a cast net you shouldn’t have any problem catching bait. Also if you catch some larger mullet use them for cut bait😎👍
