Yesterday started out with a trip to the fly shop t get my license and a few local favorites to fill in my fly box. The group, my wife and daughter, decided it was a good day to take a hike to see a waterfall. This was cutting into my fishing.time, but that was ok.. see sentence 2. It wasn't a long walk, and not too steep and when we arrived this was what we went to see. 175 foot drop.
Here's my wife and I at the base of the falls.
We returned to our base to get ready for the PLANNED activity of the day, a trail ride and dinner at a local ranch. There's a picture of Efl, my new best friend. Kinda hard taking photos and staying in the saddle, so here's a shot of my daughter and I at dinner. That was the end of a long day so I crashed.
Day 3 is white water rafting on the Colorado River. This is a class 1,2 trip because of kid's age. No dry spots on the boat, so know shots if the trip down River. All I can say is the scenery was awesome. Some nice hatches along the river, bwo's and a few caddis. Saw many trout rising, probably on emerges. Ended up with lun c h on the river while the guides packed up then the ride over the mountain to our home base. In a thunderstorm by the way. Considering going to the Yampa forum hour or so before dinner.

Nothing on the schedule tomorrow morning. I'm going fishing tomorrow. Granddaughter is waffling a little. Her Mom got her a rod , we picked up some clear floats for her to use on the spinning rod. I think she's afraid I'll go out for the entire day and we won't catch fish. She's good with a rod, but she's still 13 and needs action. She's never fished with flies either. She's used to worms.

What a great time! So happy for you. Beautiful country.
Glad you enjoyed yourself. I enjoyed the pictures........we both win.
Finally got a line in the water this morning. Kind of hit or miss not knowing anything about the water. Here's a couple of pictures from the Yampa River which flows through town.
Talked to a local and he said the rain last night put the bugs off schedule, so the fishing was slow.

Thanks for the pictures Flytier they don't do the area justice though,do they? It's not like being there such a beautiful spot. It should be on everyone's bucket list. God's country 🇺🇸🎣😎👍

Beautiful spot Jim, I still wouldn't mind being skunked there. Thanks for sharing.
