Just landed my first halibut out of the Agua Hedonia lagoon in Carlsbad. Got him just east of the pch bridge on the west shore of the lagoon. Fought like hell! Tide was rising from a 1 foot low and got him on a pink swim bait. Also got a little spottie in the same spot 20 mins later. Would love other Intel on the lagoon if anyone's got it!

I’d never stick my thumb in a halibuts mouth they’ve got nasty teeth and go ballistic when grabbed.I use a net or grippers. I’ve caught a lot of them in the South Bay and they can’t wait to bite some meat. I’m suprisied there’s no blood on your thumb. I’ve never fished the lagoon. But fish the SD bay south of Coronado bridge and catch different varieties including halis up to 36” on plastics. Fish.

I was working above the lagoon on the east side of I-5 loads of bait fish jumping plus the water is warming up. Get on it while you can!

I got a buddy that has lived in Carlsbad since 1986. He is Mike Striler. He is basically a rock star. He plays in several places there live.

So no one would stick their fingers in a Halibuts mouth just for the halibut?

To funny I’ve been in an old school funk band that plays Carlsbad, Oceanside areas etc. for over 13 years I’m sure we have crossed paths.
