New to the area moved from the north east. I’ve done a lot of freshwater fishing but salt water is new to me. Live on the south spreader canal in Cape Coral and have a boat. I have trolled the spreader several times and have caught a few fish. Would anyone be kind enough and help me find spots to fish and different methods along with the right baits

Check out several Facebook pages. "Fresh to Salt, making the transition". "Tampa Bay Salt Water Fishing" is not an exact match but still in the area. Southern Florida Fishing Reports". Good luck.

Just a thought Cat food. Welcome btw. Put this post in the Chit Chat section. There's plenty of Florida FS members that can help you with suggestions. You may get a few more responses under Chit-Chat. Just title your post to get some attention.
Goto lee county artificial reef page get gps coordinates. That will be a start. If bottom fishing i mixed it up see what they were biting on. Live bait pinfish, squid usually does not fail. Whole spanish sardines finger mullet etc and you can use cut bait as well.
Hey Catfood1. Welcome to this area from nothern Florida. Yep, it is a little different but all of the saltwater fishing is about the same. I am a member of Saltstrong.com If I am not mistaken, you can view the website and go over some of the Youtube videos they have that are few to the public but, the insider is where you really want to be. I fished anclote area in Tarpon Springs and found it a little different when I moved to the Placida Area during the Red tide. So, I was having a hard time catching fish. Now, I fish inshore and offshore. I can help you if you like and I know being a member of Saltstrong will not hurt either. If you like, you can contact me at tjm919101t@yahoo.com
Take care,
tom
Google artificial reefs in the area near your local boat ramp. It will give you the co-ordinances and structures at multiple sites.
I pick a couple close together and fish them. If I have any luck, I’ll mark those spots for a return trip.
Shrimp and Greenbacks are my go to live baits.
Gulp (minnows) artificial bait is also good.
The deeper you can go, the better your chances in this heat.
