Fathers Day Trip
New York Fishing

My son in law invited me to go out tomorrow morning with his father on their boat. Winds are forecasted to be 10-15mph. That’ll make a quick drift for sure. The two of the own a swimming pool maintenance company And he works 6 days a week this time of year. It might not be the best fishing but it’s his first opportunity to get out on the water this season. We’re planning an early start so we can get back to enjoy fathers day with my daughter and granddaughter. It will be very difficult for us because our son passed the end of January. I’ve been struggling all week over this year’s holiday but I can’t just sit home.

It could be a great day of healing out on the water. Go with that attitude and god bless. Healing comes faster if we actively participate.

By all means go John and maybe put something in your pocket that belonged to your son.

He will be with you in spirit and a tap on the pocket as you are reeling them in will be a little memorial of yours to him.

May you all have tight lines.

Definitely go out John, he would have wanted you to. Great idea to bring something of his along with you. Once again, sorry for your loss.

John I understand your grief brother. It's been over 5yrs since my daughter passed. The worse fear of a parent😪. In time it eases but the memories are always there as they should be. Enjoy your trip he'll be with you brother. I got plenty of support from my brothers n sisters here. FS has become so much more than just fishing. 👍👍

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I wear a small silver cross that has his fingerprint. I’ll be touching that out on the water. I boat fish once a week. Each time I go out I visualize him on the bow, casting to the school’s of bluefish we’d hit on occasion. He loved fishing and hitting the blues when they schooled up.

Winds are btwn 15-20mph so we had to cancel. I’ll be spending the afternoon with my daughter and 15 month old granddaughter, who had been my salvation through all of this.
I’m holding up health wise. Now on an “oral chemo pill”. So far limited side affects. I hope to get out next Sunday with my son in law. He was really looking forward to it. We both were.

Grizzly,
Condolences on your loss. We go to a monthly support group specifically for parents who lost children. It’s been comforting for me.Those folks are the only ones who understand what you go through.
Some lost children 10+ years ago and still attend. It’s a life changing event as you know quite well.
Kind regards.
