Have you guys tried them? I watched some reviews on YouTube and bought a few swim baits at $2.17 compared to Strike King 1.5 and 2.5 ($5.97) which I've had good luck with at Lake Havasu. Sexy Shad seems popular and you can see they have an equivalent and the reviews suggested you change out the hooks for larger ones but they'd cost as much as the lure? The lures have good action at 3-5 ft which is perfect for Havasu's 8-12 ft depths and have a rattle inside where Strike King does not.
Now my results, got skunked on the south shore on Wednesday out from 7 - 4 in my kayak in 110* Arizona sunshine. Yesterday got out at 6:30 and not a hit until the 1st largemouth at 12:30, a 1 1/4 lb small one. On the Ozark lure and in the next hour (in the high heat of the day 112*, so much for being out at daybreak) had two more 2-3 pounders up to the yak playing them and lost both. I left my lucky landing net behind as Castle Rock is 350 yds to the water through sand. I think I'd have had both in the boat with a net.
So looks like the guy in the photo was nearly lost and 2 lost probably due to crappy "featuring Eagle Claw Hooks"
Also many say on here say don't use a snap on swivel but the 3 fish came on the swivel compared to a skunk on rod #2 with a direct tie on with Strike King.

Wow Langer, you got pretty lucky that hook didn't tear free. Good time to play the
Lottery, your luck is really running strong.

Nicely done! Sometimes it is color, sometimes noise. Put the right one in front of them and get ready. My soon-to-be DIL caught her first LM on one of their poppers last Summer. I believe that has a rattle in it, too. More stuff from China, but not much isn’t nowadays🤷🏼‍♂️

The Strike King Sexy Shad is a little bigger and the hooks are definitely larger but almost 3 times more money. Most lures come from China.

Change out the hooks and hold on or go with the strike king and be done with it - similar costs in the long run.

Hey Papa, good looking lures but the bills look bigger than a square bill which would probably get them down 10- 15'. But can't beat a buck and a half each!

To swivel or not to swivel that seems to many to be an argument question, until you use one and they quit twisting off..that was your answer! 🤣 It's what works not some snooty PHDS lab tests.

So you're saying you think it was the twisting with the fish and swivel that caused 'em to get away? I thought the argument of no swivel was a fish could see it. I think most bass are quite blind as they sure miss my surface lures a great deal of time!

Maybe you have the cross eyed strain of bass is why they miss it LOL!

If you tie your line right to the lure and it's a tight knot, it can affect the way the lure moves. A snap lets the lure more easily change its angle to the line. It would be interesting to fish two poles with the same lure, one fastened with a swivel and one tied with a knot that leaves a loose loop.
....not that I have any idea what I'm talking about!

I have caught fish with expensive and cheap lures, with and without snaps or swivels. I rarely use a leader. Fishing mostly bass. I like to have one pole available with a snap or swivel in case I have a need for a quick bait change. I don’t think bass are that picky. I am most likely going to be skunked when bait fish are schooling all over and the bass are stuffed, napping watching a Nascar event or football.

Hey Jwid, not sure our qest coast largemouth watch Nascar but fickle fish is why we keep coming back. I have braid on my reels so I would think a leader would be necessary, I use 4-6' of 8 lb fluorocarbon.
It sure is cookin' in the southwest and I ended up at Urgent Care after playing golf with some buddies at 7:45 and got really got sick from heat exhaustion around 10:30.
Fished Havasu Wed and Thurs in my kayak and that probably started it. At 69 I need to be more careful. Better now and a nap will fix me up!
