Before I go further, I want you to know my following experience was strange, almost paranormal, and something I’d never experienced before. Also, let me add that I am not sure it was real or all a figment of my imagination.
On early last Saturday morning, I had gone to the bathroom then returned to my bed.
Upon lying down, I felt this heavy pressure on my chest. I wasn’t sure it might be a heart attack, a clot embolism or what. I get up finally, go to my den and sit in my chair which allows me to adjust it. I dozed or tried to until my woke and I had her get me some Tylenol, hoping that would do the job. Finally, around eight A.M. we decided that I should go back to the hospital.
Now sometime between 2 A.M. and 8 A.M. is when this what I shall call imagination happened. I had a strong impression of smelling acrid smoke, not like a fire of normal properties, but I realized it had the stench, the acrid, and unearthly smell and was from Hell! Now, some reason I was neither frightened, worried, or felt the need to hold up a Crucifix to ward off any evil!
This was more like the experience of walking down the mid-way of the Texas State Fair and dozens of barkers are yelling out to attract the attention of those passing by. It was like a final invitation to choose to take the wide path to what Satan was offering who was falsely claimed was superior.
I have never doubted my relationship and dedication as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ and that he is the Son of God. The World has many sweet and alluring traps in forms of every type. I did not know if this was to be my last day on Earth, or simply a very warped and weird dream. But I certainly had no intention of choosing any of them.
Frank Sinatra’s song “I did it my way” is a very alluring concept, but the result is to become a free trip to Hell. In this dream, I keep walking and refused even to listen to the siren’s song. I admit I have a vivid imagination and also interesting dreams. I do not know when, and whether I was awake, or asleep when this happened, but at the moment it was real. All the aromas like a midway were there, but I never knew their origin. It seemed to be a final invitation to turn back and reject my Christian faith, which I refused to do. Just Sayin…RJS
