I recently have had luck with swimbaits and the beetle spinner. They both have landed some smallmouth for me.

Varies wildly depending on the creek. The creek behind my house varies a lot based on recent rains. If it hasn't rained in a while, the fish are usually trapped in pretty small ponds as there are TONS of beaver dams all over this creek, so the fish get HUNGRY and will start smacking literally anything that moves. Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits work well for me in these situations because the fish are so aggressive its more about getting the bait near a fish to make a catch than it is giving them a particular presentation. I'll get six inch dinks trying to choke a 1/2 oz chatterbait if they're stuck in pools.

When the water is moving a little more consistently varies throughout the year. In the heat of the summer, those "eeliminators" from Karl's were SMASHING them (weird extra large tadpole imitators, but damn was catching the snot out of them). This time of year worms and bugs and stuff are starting to pick up. For me the biggest thing is to have something weedless as there are endless hangups in creeks.

I'd probably just tie on a texas rig and throw every plastic in your box a few times until you get a bite and go from there.

There are several that work well, personally I like to use small spinnerbaits and larger rooster tail style spinners like a Mepps. I've recently had luck with natural colored flukes and smaller swimbaits 2-3"s long, with no weight on it. Just let the current swim it and drift them downstream

I've had a lot of success with small jerk baits in creeks. Depending on the size of the creek, speed and how big the fish are obviously dictates what gear you'll use, but I use my ultra light setup I typically fish for trout and throw on a small rapala Xrap in whichever pattern matches the fish in the creek.

We have a creek that gets stocked with brown and rainbow trout in the spring which also has some natural reproduction. I use the rainbow trout colored Xrap. I just use a steady retrieve and let it swim, or let it hang in the creek current which makes it swim side to side.

Plus the smallmouth in this creek aren't too massive but give you an awesome fight on ultra light gear. Here's a beautifully patterned smallie from last season.

Well natty I didn't notice what type fish you're targeting. Every one seems to have assumed bass. Where I live the creeks mostly have trout in them. Where you at?

Hands down, the old slithering serpent, the night crawler. Not a creek fish alive that will turn down a night crawler. Guaranteed to out fish any other bait two fold. My opinion and I stand by it with a full creel.
