Hi, my name is Barbara and I enjoy fishing. With that said, I really don't know what I'm doing! lol I don't know what bait to use for each type of fish or how to properly set up my fishing rod for each type of fish. I was wondering if anyone can direct me to where I can learn to fish properly?

Welcome Barbara,
If you like to trout fish I can be of some help. If you're in rosamond you could drive north on the 14 to 395 and go between lone pine and bishop.
This would be about 100 mile Dr. Let me know if this is what like to do and then we ca talk more.

Welcome aboard, Go to the closest bait and tackle shop and they should be happy to help you with the 1st steps of this game. Then just Keep asking questions on this site and to any fisherman you see, You will start to put together the pieces of the puzzle, And before you know it you will be posting a picture of your 1st fish. Good luck

Hi,

I fish only fresh water for now. I live in the desert and there aren't many places to fish near me. the ocean is a good 2 hours away and many of the creeks and lakes have dried up. I fish from the shore only. The lake I go to has trout and carp and maybe catfish but it's getting harder and harder to catch anything since they stocked it about a month ago for a tournament and won't stock it again until October.

HI Bill,

There has to be a closer place, 100 miles is a bit too far to go fishing, was hoping for something closer. The price of gas and my car I would have to spend 100 dollars to get there and back! A dollar for every mile!
Do you know of closer places to go? Maybe in the Tehachapi, Lancaster, or Palmdale area?

Thank you :-)

Thanks Jamie! I will look to see if there are any tackle shops near me. I often do ask questions while I'm fishing and 3 weeks ago a few young men helped me set up my rod and I actually caught 2 trout! I haven't had any luck since then though. I think the lake I fish at is running out of fish to catch and do need to find one that's heavily stocked, just need to find out where that is!

I know what you mean , I'm getting to the point I don't want to go anywhere due to the gas prices.
I live closer to LA so lone pine is 200 miles.
I will check out closer places near you and get back to you. I almost sure there are areas to fish around your location.

Tehacapi has Brite lake... it is private but anyone can fish for trout for $5.00 . No gas motors allowed. They do stock it regularly with trout. No a big place but enough room to change spots occasionally. It is at about 4200 ft elevation... they do allow camping too...

What kinda car do you drive that gets 6 miles to the gallon? At 6 dollars a gal that would be 1 dollar a mile.
My 4x4 F150 gets almost 3 times that unless I'm pullin my boat. Just Sayin.
