I agree Robert. Maybe not the Guillitine but socialism is definitely NOT on my bucket list. It’s rather scary how many people we have in our country who vote for it and support it though.
Cat ....... We are already rapidly closing in on becoming a socialist nation, even though it's mostly going under the guise of entitlements, ( inappropriate) governmental subsidies, federal take over of local prerogatives, withholding revenue sharing funds to force states to comply with their policies, etc. My "favorite" is the so-called tax credits to people who don't actually earn a dime or pay a single cent in taxes.
So you and I subsidize another group of folks will naturally vote the same way again to keep the gravy train rolling.
This is not the way to run a CONSTITUTIONAL republic. We need to find a way to return to truly representative government, and quickly. This can only end badly for the American people unless we wake up and run those rascals out of the nation's capital now and for good.
Wild spending has already hamstrung at least one future generation , who will have to fund the immense debt that has been created. Meanwhile our two major international opponents are challenging us in many venues, and finding, to their delight, what has been often been called a paper tiger. Years ago, I despised President Nixon, for his weasel like approach to domestic policy, which I think the executive branch should stay mostly out of anyway, and concentrate on their Constitutionally granted areas of authority.
That being said I would now welcome him back with open arms. We need a strong and respected (feared) leader to deal with the two communist monoliths that confront us. That was R M N. Compare him with Jimmy Carter, a good Christian and a fine man, but a weak and ineffective President. Or, Barack and Bill.
I'd settle for anyone who understands and supports a strong national defense and an economy based on something other than mortgaging our future, by selling bonds to our enemies .
Rant is over, and I'm still two days behind on the Stage. Gotta catch up soon.
