Wrench, I wonder how much shipping cost would be on something like that? Any idea how much everything weighs? I’d love to have it. It’s just what I’ve been interested in.

My friend was in country about the same time as you.He was the medic on lrrp team.
If you do get the motor, and I hope you do. You might want to pull plugs out, and pour some 'marvel mystery oil', inside the cylinder. Two different metals will cause oxidation. Let the stuff soak, and pull rope a few times before putting the plugs back in.

Both my dad and grand dad had 7 1/2 Scott atwaters when I was a kid in the 50 s both likely late 1940 or early 1950 models. Both were great motors for their time and helped produce many fish and good times/memories.

Hi Hack, the outboard weighs about 50 pounds. The gas tank empty is probably 3 pounds.
I don't have the size yet.
Yes, my friend made it back OK! But like all of us at this age, we are getting old and sore!
2 days ago it was 97 degrees, today its 60.
Plays hell on the body, so we kind of take easy when it's like this.
I was planning on starting it and videoing it but the wind is coming up and I'm going inside.
Let me know if you're still interested.
Be well
Gary

Thanks Gary. I’ll find out the options on shipping the motor and I’ll let you know. I’m more interested in your friend that made it back. Please tell him Welcome Home and thanks for serving. I’ll get back to you Gary. Thanks.

Here's a cute little egg beater that I refurbished and sold awhile back. Best idling engine I've ever seen. If I had a man cave to decorate, I sure would have kept it!

I'll start working on this old boy as soon as I figure out what it is. Or was? Do any of you guys have any ideas? There are no marking stamped in it, no tags, no decals, nothin'!
I like tinkering with these old things!

You'll be happy you did! This is what I did with my Dad's old lures.

All this talk about old outboards has led me to insert a brief "commercial" advertisement for a terrific little diner/antiquity shop located in the town of Moran, MI called King's Fish Market and Restaurant. If you blink while your driving by you'll miss it. Small place but an awesome plate of food will be served and the owner has a nifty collection of old outboard motors inside the building and outside as well for your perusal.

I don't think they have an official web site, but if you use a search engine and type in "smoked fish Moran Michigan" some clickable items may surface. One of the links I followed had a dozen or so pictures that were fun to see. Unfortunately I do not have any of my own photos to attach for this comment!

This would only be a convenient stop if you happen to be crossing the Mackinaw Bridge in Michigan on your way North into Michigan's Upper Peninsula all season Wonderland...which I hope you get to do one of these days on your fishing or other recreational travel journey's!
