Welcome to the Forum, miknamron. Thank you for filling everything correctly. My youngest son lives in Fenton, right by the Merrimac. He catches a lot of bass off of a kayak out of the Merrimac. I think there are some city parks where you could that you guys could fish.

Thanks, the Merrimack runs pretty fast and straight up by me. I thought i should find a pool at a corner or inlet. Has your son seen any flying carp?

We were just talking about flying monkeys! What's next? Elephants?

When my granddaughter's mother was 4 or 5 years old I took her to the San Diego Zoo where we saw a huge bull African elephant. My daughter, having seen the movie Dumbo, asked with a scary look on her face and in all seriousness, "Daddy, is he gonna fly?"

Precious moments.

The Mississippi River is good for catfish.
Backwater areas hold panfish and bass.

I grew up fishing Bush Wildlife. There are multiple lakes. You can fish from the bank or they have boats; take you own trolling motors or they have oars available. Caught many of great fish [all species] here.

You can go to Busch’s Wildlife area, 36 lakes to Choose from and some are kids only lakes, it’s free to fish there. Down by you is Simpson’s Lake off Marshall rd in Valley Park

Conservation took over Fabic lake . There is another name for it . It's off the river road . Turn left at the golf course , then left at the first road . There are two lakes up there . One you have to walk a bit . Google it. Check them out on google earth . Then there is Suson in south county a lake in BeeTree park . Google them ! Good luck !

Jimmyking, thanks for the info I will check it out. My Grandson is starting to get bored with sun fish, blue gill and small bullheads. It's time PaPa picked up his game a notch or I might loose him.

Try to go just before a cold front or approaching storm . The father the clouds the better . Go early and in the evening .

I have been kayak and shore fishing in Simpson Lake over the last 18 months using shad, frozen skipjack and nightcrawlers. So far, I haven't caught anything out of this lake.

If there are any fishermen (or women) out there who have had some catches out of Simpson Lake, I'm open to all ideas to catch something there!

I have fished Simpson Lake for the last two years. I have fished with every bait known to man and I have only caught one small bluegill on a Mepps spinner. I used the bluegill as bait in the deep water and caught nothing. I think there are only carp in this lake.
