Hard to believe I’ve lived here in western Washington State for over fifty years and never went razor clam digging. Finally went last week with my fishing buddies and they showed me the tricks. Got our limits of 20 clams in less than an hour. It was an early tide/dig so we had the rest of the day to stop and fish on the way home. Only caught one trout but it was more than enough to make a couple dinners with the clams. Now how to figure out how to post a picture. Hang in here I’m trying.

Nice fish! If you are only catching one that’s the way to do it

Nice trout. Never caught one that size. Where were you fishing?

We spent 5 days near Ocean Shores last week. I dug 160 clams. 1st day I dug 40 clams in a little over an hour. My wife has a handicap so I have a companion card that lets me dig her clams. What a workout. Clams were showing good all days. After 1st day, I bought a fancy clam gun that is supposed to make diggin easier, but didn't help much. While we were digging, there was very little wind and a raindrop or two.

Hi RJ. We fished the lake in Ocean Shores. It’s called Duck Lake. The city has a park for access with a boat launch and a couple docks. Fun times……

Believe it or not. I’ve never eaten Razor clams.
I’m a fan of the clam.
What are they like ?

Hi BB. They are usually a little larger than an oyster as they have a digger arm protruding on one end and valve neck on the other. So a little more “meat” overall. I’d compare the flavor as a little sweeter than other clams. Great for chowders but I like them best breaded and fried.
“Hot and Fast” easy to overcook them.
