You may have nailed it as I searched a sand pike minnow, or at least this pic comes up when I searched for it (they can put anything on the Internet)

I found a river goby which looks pretty close, too.

I believe whatever we call them translates to walleye or smallmouth β€œCandy” πŸ˜‰

I use to sale bait and some would show up in my minnows I bought by the pound πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸ πŸ πŸŸπŸŸπŸ‹πŸ‹πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ¦…πŸ¦…

It does look like a Lizard fish but I don't think that they catch those in freshwater. Can you send a horizontal photo? What did you use to catch it?

Now in horizontal, it does look like a type of Goby.

The first time my dad ever took us fishing, prob 7 years old. I caught one of these in perch creek before it became the Theodore Industrial canal. Some dude called it a cigar fish. I named it Gomer Pyle. So there you go, a cigar named Gomer.
